Don't Wake Me Up Until It's Over

by Hysan Lam Hei Sen

The path of life is too complicated

As the crescent moon fails to light my way.

Keep searching despite feeling frustrated,

I follow what my inner voices say.

I do not know what lies around the bend.

They say I’m mad, too young to understand.

Yet my dreams aren’t just fantasies, my friend.

No one knows their future since life’s unplanned.

As always, I believe the slopes ahead

Are never as steep as they might seem.

Though I often tumble and hurt my head,

Never will I stop till I reach my dream.

I am no longer lost as I wander,

So don’t wake me up until it’s over.

Author Bio: Hysan Lam is an English major and a huge Big Bang Theory fan. When it comes to writing poetry, she considers herself somewhat of a perfectionist (just like Sheldon Cooper). She has always been obsessed with using the AABB rhyme scheme in her poems and often struggles to come up with rhyming words that make sense. In her free time, she enjoys drawing, binge-watching YouTube, hanging out with friends, and playing mahjong with her family.
