An EAC workshop on phonics and storytelling skills was co-conducted by Ms Laura Man and Dr Cherry Chan on 24 August 2021 via Zoom for the first-year students from the two-year Early Childhood Education Programme. In the workshop, practical phonics teaching skills and storytelling strategies were introduced through fun and interactive activities, including games, video appreciation and small-group practices. To facilitate students’ independent learning after the workshop, the instructors provided individual feedback on students’ pre-recorded videos and a list of online resources.

The survey results indicate that students found the workshop a rewarding learning experience. They particularly appreciated ​the instructors’ enthusiasm when delivering the session. The EAC team is greatly encouraged by the positive response and looks forward to conducting another workshop for the same group of students in Term 2 on research writing skills.
