An EAC workshop on phonics and storytelling skills was conducted on 31 August 2020 on Zoom by Ms Laura Man and Dr Cherry Chan for students from the Early Childhood Education Programme. In the workshop, practical phonics teaching skills and storytelling strategies were introduced through fun and interactive activities such as demonstration, video watching and hands-on storytelling practice. In addition, students were provided with individual feedback on their pre-recorded videos and a list of online resources to facilitate their independent learning after the workshop.
The survey results indicate that students found the workshop and materials provided helpful for their learning. They also appreciated the instructors’ enthusiasm and clarity of delivery. The EAC team is pleased with the positive response and looks forward to conducting another workshop for the same group of students in Term 2 on research writing skills.
