Research Writing Workshop for Early Childhood Education Programme (CHED)

On 11 March 2021, Dr Cherry Chan from the ELTU EAC team conducted a research writing workshop for first-year students from the two-year Early Childhood Education Programme during the class time of CHED 4320 Introduction to Educational Research. The workshop aimed to 1) introduce effective thesis writing strategies; 2) note the overall structure of a research proposal, as well as function and language of different sections; and 3) practice research writing skills with the students. Dr Chan made use of interactive online quizzes and in-class exercises to engage students in the workshop.

The post-workshop feedback survey indicated that many students found the workshop useful in strengthening their research writing skills. They perceived the use of authentic research paper samples to be helpful in demonstrating the writing skills. They also appreciated Dr Chan’s clear delivery and enthusiasm in conducting the workshop.

The generally positive feedback suggests that the workshop has achieved its objectives. The EAC team is pleased with the survey results and looks forward to continually supporting CHED students.
