On 16 November 2020, Ms Laura Buddle conducted an over two-hour workshop for final-year BME students to prepare them for writing their final year project reports. The workshop aims to help students comprehend the purposes and the structure of a thesis and improve their English writing skills. Prior to the workshop, Ms Buddle created a pre-course survey for students to fill out with a view to better understanding their learning needs and tailoring her teaching materials accordingly. The workshop received a lot of positive feedback from students. Although the workshop was conducted online, students highly appreciated not only the content, but also the interaction with the teacher. Ms Buddle engaged students by asking them challenging questions and setting up polls, thus enhancing the effectiveness of the workshop. There was a quiz after the workshop, which accounted for 5% of total grade of the project, to evaluate their learning achievements. The EAC team is looking forward to providing a second round of intervention in the next semester.
