On 15 April, 2020, Ms Emily Yan was invited to Prof James Frankel’s CURE1111 The Study of Religion class to conduct a feedback session on the students’ reflection paper followed by an academic writing workshop to prepare them for their final essay. For the feedback session, Ms Yan shared general observations and areas of improvement based on students’ performance in the reflection paper. Along with the general feedback shared in the session, she will also be providing comments to students on an individual basis. During the preparation workshop, Ms Yan highlighted the guidelines, prompts and assessment criteria for the final paper, shared online writing and editing resources, and discussed the structure of an academic compare-and-contrast paper. In particular, she emphasized the importance of a focused thesis and the organization patterns of an argument. These two interventions have received generally positive feedback from the students and the EAC project team looks forward to future collaborations with Professor Frankel.
