On October 25th & 31st, 2023, two identical academic writing workshop sessions were conducted as part of a collaboration between the English Across the Curriculum (EAC) Project and the Department of Systems Engineering and Engineering Management (SEEM) and Financial Technology (FTEC). The workshop was designed to introduce students to the language and structural conventions used in final year project (FYP) reports. The EAC instructor, Mr Fung, provided an overview of common sections in an FYP report and frequently encountered language errors. Students engaged in in-class exercises to reinforce their understanding of the concepts discussed. In a post-workshop feedback survey, students expressed their appreciation for Mr. Fung’s clear and well-structured delivery. The EAC Project team is pleased with the workshop’s outcome and looks forward to future collaborations with the Department of SEEM and FTEC.
