Mr Johnson Chan from the ELTU EAC team was invited to support the students taking MEDF1031 Communication Skills by conducting a guest lecture on online communication. The workshop aimed to (1) demonstrate online communication etiquette, (2) demonstrate interpersonal communication skills within the context of group work, and (3) explore how to communicate with peers within the context of conflict management. It set out to equip students with the techniques required for articulating key principles of online communication etiquette, drafting professional emails and electronic messages, and utilising key communication strategies to manage interpersonal conflict. Students were also guided to reflect on conflict communication and management in the process.
The survey responses indicated that students found the workshop engaging and effective in achieving the intended objectives. They found the workshop informative and enjoyable; they particularly appreciated the comprehensive content, well designed samples and interactive exercises. The instructor’s clarity in delivery was also applauded. The EAC team is encouraged to see the positive response and looks forward to continuing the collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine to support students in communication skills.
