On 30 September 2019, Ms Laura Man conducted an academic writing workshop in collaboration with Dr Wyman Tang from the Department of Anthropology. The workshop was held in Dr Tang’s course, ANTH1100 Understanding Anthropology, to prepare students for their reflective response papers. This is the third round of collaboration with Dr Tang in this course. The workshop objectives were to 1) familiarize students with the structure of an academic essay and the development of ideas, 2) establish an understanding of the requirements of the response essay and 3) raise students’ awareness of linguistic issues. In addition to analyzing authentic student writing samples, students were also introduced to useful online tools to guide their writing process. The feedback received was positive and the EAC project team looks forward to more collaboration opportunities with the department in the future.
