In collaboration with the Department of Anthropology, Ms Laura Man, a lecturer at the English Language Teaching Unit, held a writing workshop on 8th October, 2018 for the course Understanding Anthropology (ANTH1100) with Prof Wyman Tang. Due to the positive feedback received in the previous academic year, this workshop was held again this year to help students in writing reflective response papers in Anthropology. In order to identify students’ needs, the essays of their first assignment were collected and analyzed, which were then used as examples for illustration in the workshop.
According to the post-workshop evaluation, students truly appreciated learning by using their own writing as examples as this allows them to be aware of their writing problems and teaches them how to improve in their next writing assignment.
