In order to prepare the teaching assistants from the Department of Information Engineering to assess the language of FYP reports and proposals, a training session led by Mr Chris Rozendaal was arranged in early October. Based on the assessment rubric developed by Mr Rozendaal, this session aimed to familiarise the TAs with all sections of the rubric, and to note common difficulties students encounter when applying conventions of structure, language, and referencing to their reports. Past student FYP reports were used as samples for illustration and discussion during the training, and the TAs were also advised regarding appropriate quantity and nature of feedback. The three participating TAs actively engaged in the discussion process and provided their opinions on the rubric and sample reports. As a result, the exchange of ideas and opinions effectively facilitated the training.
