On March 29th, 2022, Dr. Allen Ho joined Professor Ruslan Yusupov’s class, CURE 2157 Intermediate Seminar, to present a workshop on writing strategies for academic and research papers in preparation for the class’s final essay. The workshop went over how to approach readings as a writer and how to organize evidence before writing to best facilitate the writing process. The second half of the workshop reviewed some common language errors including sentence structure and formality when it comes to academic writing. Support resources were also provided so that students can do self study and help themselves while writing their final. Feedback from the students was overwhelmingly positive. Students appreciated Dr. Ho’s enthusiastic delivery of the material and were grateful for the concrete examples and strategies that the workshop utilized. The EAC project team is pleased that this workshop was such a success and looks forward to further collaborations with the Department of Cultural and Religious Studies.
