On January 19th, 2023, Dr. Olive Cheung presented a workshop for final year Urban Studies Programme (URSP) on how to write an abstract and academic English language skills in preparation for writing their capstone project. Students were introduced to the composition of an abstract and its key grammatical components. Following this, students were given an opportunity to work with abstracts written by past students to practice identifying good samples. The feedback from students following the workshop was overwhelmingly positive. Students found the content useful for getting ready to write their own abstract and found Dr. Cheung’s presentation to be effective and engaging. The EAC team is happy to hear that students enjoyed this workshop and looks forward to future collaborations with the Urban Studies Programme.
