On 2 November, 2020, Ms Laura Man conducted a 45-minute feedback session in Dr Wyman Tang’s ANTH1100 Understanding Anthropology. Ms Man previously conducted a workshop on academic writing in October to prepare the class for their reflective response papers, and returned to hold a feedback session aiming to examine their performance on that assignment. Excerpts taken from a variety of student samples were analyzed to demonstrate common errors and strengths. Areas of further improvement included sentence conciseness and clarity, effective titling and proofreading, and the overall essay structure. Students praised that the use of worksheets and the online collaborative writing tool (Padlet) made the session very interactive and informative. The EAC project team is happy to receive such enthusiastic responses, and is excited to continue providing language support in collaboration with the Department of Anthropology.
