In the previous departmental meetings of Earth System Science Programme, all the professors agreed to join the EAC initiative by adopting the language assessment rubric developed by Mr Ken Grimes in the grading process of Senior Project reports. Prof Amos Tai thus invited the EAC team for a meeting to brief the professors on the rubric, discuss future collaborations and celebrate this year’s collaboration. Using students’ authentic examples, Mr Grimes explained the rationale and application of the rubric through students’ common problems. He also invited professors to perfect the rubrics along the grading process.

The professors agreed with Mr Grimes on the issues raised and added their opinions on the basis of their expertise and the close relationships with the students, which invoked a heated discussion of the model of collaboration in the future to prepare students better in academic literacy in their four-year undergraduate study.
