Speech Title:
Moving with the Trend of EAC: Challenges and Implementation
Abstract:
English, taught in the first year or the second year of higher education in the Chinese mainland, is a compulsory course for college English teaching, with the course credits varying from across universities. In recent years, various approaches and models of English language teaching and learning have been implemented to meet the educational challenges at the macro, meso and micro levels. In this study, an English Across the Curriculum (EAC) example was explored to demonstrate the challenges that college English is facing, and how different EAC models have been designed and implemented across universities by integrating legal discipline content with English language learning. It is expected that by investigating the present situational context, a more sustainable and transferable EAC model can be developed and implemented to meet the ever changing educational challenges in the new era.
