On October 30 and November 3 2025, Mr. Matthew Fung conducted two identical in-person workshop sessions on Final Year Project (FYP) report writing for undergraduate students as part of the English Across the Curriculum (EAC) collaboration between the English Language Teaching Unit (ELTU) and the Departments of Systems Engineering and Engineering Management (SEEM) and Financial Technology (FTEC). The workshop was designed to teach students about common language conventions, structural guidelines, and typical mistakes found in FYP reports. Participants received a handout containing multiple sample excerpts and exercises, along with additional resources on academic writing conventions, formatting, and citation. Through the handout exercises, Mr. Fung encouraged students to analyse student samples and to evaluate their senior peers’ work, focusing on language, structure, and content.
Responses from the post-workshop survey indicated that students found the workshop informative and appreciated Mr. Fung’s teaching style and the clarity of his materials.
