This course is designed to increase student literacy of contemporary issues, especially in subjects related to business, science, and technology. Students learn about these topics directly through assigned readings and discussions, but emphasis is also placed on life-long learning by allowing students to select their own topics to read and teaching them skills to critical evaluate information sources. Learning topics also include reading strategies, expository writing skills, and presentation skills.
